Good Way To Start The Month!

Have you seen the picture of the line up around Babylon Nightclub on Saturday Night? Well, In case you weren't there let me give you an idea of how utterly insane it was...

!!!
Yeah...I know, right? It was crazier inside, the combination of Fall Down Gallery working on an art piece live on stage while IsKwe took over the crowd and tied together by A Tribe Called Red hosting the whole night, it was a gooder.

Isn't she beautiful? And Man, if you haven't heard this woman sing...she's got  killer voice.
Robbie!
The finished product!
After the great few weeks we had, being on the XPress and hearing great feedback from the album this was the perfect way to celebrate with all of our friends in town...and it was also a perfect time to kick off the celebrations that are leading up to A TRIBE CALLED RED ON TOUR. We've got a few dates set up already with more to come in the next few weeks and months, but for now take a look at our tour date calendar and plan your social schedule accordingly, we have been wanting to go on tour now for a good long while and from the feedback we have been getting from each of you the feeling is mutual. This is going to be really exciting, and it all starts off on May 3rd in Toronto at The Drake Underground for our Official Record Release Party, so if you live in that area hopefully we will see yah! If not keep an eye on the calendar and we will probably be heading your way at some point.

Shub is stoked.

SEE YOU GUYS ON TOUR!

NAC + ATCR

A while ago we had the opportunity to play on the 4th Stage at the NAC, and it was quite an experience. We are usually playing in a club venue so it was interesting to see how this would work out, but the acoustics were amazing (of course, it's the NAC it's famous for that stuff!) and we had two great hosts courtesy of CBC...and you know, A Tribe Called Red and CBC have something real good going on. We were also lucky enough to have Winter and Rhonda grace us with their amazing presence and sing with us on a track...these are two beautiful women with out of this world voicesand every time we have had them perform they put the audience into a trance, we were so happy to have them back with us. Waub Rice and Alan Neal, it was a pleasure to share the stage with you guys thanks for having us take part and for making us laugh.

Ryan McMahon + ATCR 4 Ever

LISTEN Check out this big link beside the writing that says "LISTEN" and it will take you over to our buddy Ryan McMahon's Podcast called Red Man Laughing...we are going to be on Episode 16 and it's good laughs and more big news. Don't miss it!

Blacksheep and Energy Drinks.

Last weekend, while still basking in the glory of success after the Thre3 Style Show, Shub joined Bear Witness for a night out in the beautiful rolling hills of Wakefield at The Blacksheep. The Blacksheep is an amazing venue, overlooking the Gatineau River and featuring walls of art work by famed local graff artist Berzerker, it is a hidden gem just on the outskirts of town. There's something I have noticed about the people from the Gatineau Hills that come out to see live music, and that is that they are always dancing. I can guarantee you that a high percentage of the crowd that you see getting down at festivals in the Summer are from the Hills and they definitely did not disappoint on Saturday, ATCR was welcomed with open arms, it was pretty nice just being in a small intimate space like that. Here are a few flicks of the night plus some from the other night at Ritual when Shub conquered.

ghostly or just a super low quality camera?

It is tough to make out but I realized through the night there was a big portrait of William Commanda overlooking the stage and dance floor, pretty cool.

Shout out to Fall Down Gallery.

taking the stage, look at that smile.

applause, applause the crowd goes wild.

Pretty good time all around...let's see how this weekend compares. Thanks to Paul Symes for having us and to everyone that came out to see us this week!

Champions

As if this past week or so hasn't been exciting enough, yesterday in itself was pretty crazy. First the good folks over at our local XPress newspaper were supportive enough to feature us and the album as this weeks cover story, it is a really nice article and having support from our friends here in our own city is awesome...if you are an Ottawa local make sure you pick up a copy, it's going to be free on stands until next Thursday.

AND NOW, something extremely exciting! Last night Ottawa congregated at Ritual Nightclub in the byward market. The air was buzzing and Twitter feeds were being refreshed while some of the capitol's best deejays prepared to go up against one another as the RedBull Thre3Style Competition took off. ATCR's very own Deejay Shub was amongst them, and although the other competitors were pretty killer, SHUB WAS DUBBED OTTAWA'S WINNER! He wrecked the place with his set and everyone was going crazy. These competitions are really something to experience, it was a really fun night and ending it with a glorious win like that was perfect. Next up Shub is off to compete in the Ontario rounds and if that goes accordingly, the Canadian championships!

Overall another day to this crazy week we have been having, thanks to everybody that has been showing the love and we will see you at Electric Pow Wow next Saturday the 14th!

Shub Gives You Wings.

Hey, so uhh what are you doing this Thursday? Wait, don't tell me...you're going to see A Tribe Called Red's very own Deejay Shub dominate in the Red Bull Thre3 Style competition at Ritual right? Mhmm, that's right, Shub is going up against some of Ottawa's Deejays to win the title of Ottawa Thre3 stye Champion. It's gunna be a gooder so come show your support, dance, get crazy.

GOOD LUCK BRO BRO.
